Essex Boys and Girls Clubs is a registered UK charity. We work to enable young people aged 11-25, in Essex and East London, to reach their potential.

Our Aim: To further the development and education of boys and young men and girls and young women, so as to help them achieve their physical, mental and spiritual potential, enabling them to grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

Our Clubs >

Essex Boys & Girls Clubs is a club for clubs. Our members are a network of affiliated youth clubs across Essex and London.

Our member clubs are diverse, ranging from the small rural youth clubs with under 20 members that meet once a fortnight, to large multi-facility clubs with over 500 members and open almost 24 hours a day. All of our member clubs are run by volunteers and register a membership of young people who pay ‘subs’, from as little as 20p per session, to attend. Some of our clubs also offer drop-in, outreach or targeted services alongside their membership.

Our Projects >

We are a provider of challenging activities, events and targeted youth projects, with a team of experienced youthworkers, outdoor instructors and sports coaches.

All our projects are delivered in partnership, alongside a range of partners, including our member clubs, local schools, Essex Youth Service, Essex Police, local councils and other youth organisations.

Our History >

Essex Boys and Girls Clubs was established in 1939 as the Essex Association of Boys’ Clubs. We updated our name in 2006 and we often shorten it to EBGC.

We are an independent county-based organisation, affiliated to the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs.

Essex Boys and Girls Clubs became a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 21st September 2015 (Charity No. 1163658). Previously the organisation operated as a registered charity from its inception in February 1939 until September 2015 (Charity No. 301447).
