NCS

Essex Boys & Girls Clubs (EBGC) are delivering National Citizen Service (NCS) programmes for young people aged 15-17 (up to 25 with additional needs) across Essex this year.

What is NCS?

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a nationwide youth movement focused on supporting young people aged 15-17 to find their strengths to become world-and work-ready.

Since 2009, NCS has supported over 750,000 young people to build independence, boost work-readiness and make a positive impact on the world through the range of residential, online and community-based experiences all while having fun and developing relationships!

EBGC & NCS

Essex Boys & Girls Clubs have a long-standing relationship with NCS and have been providing opportunities for the young people of Essex for more than a decade. This year, EBGC will be providing opportunities for young people aged 15-17 (school years 11 & 12) to take part in NCS Community Experiences across Essex, Southend & Thurrock.

EBGC NCS Experiences will take place across the year and range in length from 12-20 hours.

2023/24 experiences will offer young people the opportunity to take part in:

  • Interactive Life Skills Sessions
  • Employability Workshops
  • Social Action Projects
  • Adventure & Team Building Challenges

‘NCS Overnighter’ Sessions in the spring and summer at Layer Marney Outdoors will offer young people the opportunity to get out there and put their skills to the test, develop bonds and get out of their comfort zone!

All EBGC Community Experiences are offered FREE OF CHARGE to young people with sessions delivered on a regular basis to suit the needs of each group.

The 2023/24 experiences are planned to take place in a range of settings across the county including in youth clubs, schools or colleges as well as in the community.

If you are a parent/guardian of a young person or a young person interested in taking part in the EBGC NCS Community Experiences please contact Andy Moore either by phoning the office on 01245 264783 or email andym@essexboysandgirlsclubs.org.
