Essex Boys and Girls Clubs is a registered UK charity, giving young people all over Essex and East London opportunities to realise their potential.
Set up in 1939 by youth clubs, we now work with over 120 affiliated youth and sports clubs, helping their amazing volunteers to take up exciting opportunities for the development of their clubs and their 10,000+ young people aged 11-18yrs.

Rain stays away for the National Cross-Country Championships
Stormy skies threatened the 243 runners at Stubbers Adventure Centre on Sunday 22nd January, but everyone stayed dry. Essex Boys and Girls Clubs organised the 2012 National Cross-Country Championships alongside the London and South East Region Air Cadets (LASER) Inter Wing Competition, allowing the two organisations to share volunteers and costs.
Clubs came all the way from Durham and Manchester to compete against a strong Essex contingent. With so many runners across the six races there was plenty of competition.

ABAE runs the 2nd Essex Boxing Development Day
Volunteers from boxing clubs in Essex and East London gathered in Chelmsford for the chance to learn about opportunities in the region, funding pots and top tips on successful bids as well as how clubs can work together with each other and outside partners more efficiently.
The Chief Executive Officer of the ABAE, Mark Abberley, answered questions from the floor for over an hour, before the Essex Boxing Development Officer, Afsheen Panjalizadeh, ran a club development workshop to give attendees new ideas for recruiting new boxers and volunteers into the club and methods of keeping them there. A networking lunch was followed by a funding workshop from Essex Boys & Girls Clubs' Juliet Townsend.

Clubs ring in the New Year with our 5-a-side Football Tournaments
The EBGC 5 a-sides were held at Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre in Chelmsford on 29th December (U14s) and 7th January (U16 & U19s) and the results were as follows:
U14 winners: Springfield United
U16 winners: Brentwood Athletic A
U19 winners: Woodham Radars

Our latest newsletter and the flyers for our Spring events have been posted out to our clubs just in time for Christmas. They are all available in pdf form on our Events & Activities page, where you can download them to put up in your club. These events are open to all our affiliated clubs and each flyer shows who to contact if you're interested.
