EBGC Hall of fame title card (1)

Lewis Richardson started his boxing journey in 2010 when he turned up with his mates to Centurions Amateur Boxing Club in Colchester, mainly as a means of staying fit while playing football. Whilst others gradually stopped turning up to the sessions, Lewis was committed to improving and mastering his boxing skills.

This dedication and commitment, mixed with the evident natural talent, led him to great success in the amateur boxing ranks. Among other successes, Lewis won multiple NABGC National Amateur Boxing Championship titles between the years of 2012 and 2017, showcasing his ability against the best in the UK. These achievements caught the attention of Team GB, for whom he competed for from 2018 to 2024.

In 2022, he won both the Silver medal at the European Championships and the Bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.

It wasn’t all as straightforward as it may seem for Lewis, with multiple setbacks keeping him out of the ring, and weight classes being removed, but his eyes were firmly set on representing Team GB at the Olympic Games.

In 2024, he fulfilled that dream, successfully qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris. He navigated his way through each of the rounds, facing European champions and World medallists along the way, being the underdog in all three of his Olympic bouts. He overcame his first two opponents before eventually finding himself in the semi-finals against Mexican Marco Verde. Lewis controversially lost the semi-final via a 3:2 split decision, meaning he returned home with an Olympic Bronze medal.

In 2025, he decided to turn professional with Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions, making his debut at Portman Road, Ipswich, in June. A comfortable win on points left everyone excited to see what the future holds for him. In August 2025, he secured his second professional victory, continuing his perfect start to his professional career.

Lewis has been supporting EBGC for several years, attending our Golf Day, AGM and Dinner, various boxing events, and our national NABGC conference.

We are delighted to induct Lewis into our Hall of Fame.
