NEPAL ADVENTURE 2017

In August, 10 young people and 2 staff members flew 16 hours around to world to Nepal. After spending a couple of days in the city of Kathmandu experiencing the local culture and tourist highlights we got ready for the hike to Barpak; a small mountain village in the Himalayas. After 8 days hiking and sleeping under canvas we made it to Barpak. The time in the village was spent living amongst the local community submerging ourselves in the local culture which involved being welcomed to the village by the local school, spending time with the young people of the village and handing over donations to the Mothers Group. After a couple of days in the village it was time to head down towards the River. We set off walking steep downhill in scorching hot sun, it was amazing to see the river was in sight! We were lucky to have the opportunity to spend the next few days White Water Rafting down the River Trishuli on rapids graded 3+, one of our rafts even managed to go for a swim! After an exciting couple of weeks including a spontaneous tractor ride the group made the long bumpy bus journey back to the city for the last couple of days before heading home.

Attendees: Alice Ferris, Cerys Dunmow, Charlie Shaw, Chloe Mayo, Emily Orchard, James Castle, Katie Chester, Lauren Hill, Sarah Ray-Dobson and Scott Peckham.

Staff: Jay Solder & Rebecca Stanley

“I want to go back again next time! It was truly amazing”

“ I feel so much more confident now, I wouldn’t be able to stand up here and tell you all about it before, the trip did that for me”
