David Hassard

Hi, I'm David and I manage the Activities and Delivery team at EBGC.  My role is to make sure that the young people we work with have the opportunity to take part in a diverse programme of sports, outdoor activities, training, projects and expeditions. When I’m not running around with EBGC I like to spend time with my family and friends, and be in the great outdoors.

I am inspired by

Mountains, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes (everyday) and the mighty, mighty Arsenal.

Juliet Townsend

I joined Essex Boys and Girls Clubs in May 2011, after almost ten years working in London at Big Fish. I have been getting to grips with the huge range of activities the charity runs, the growing numbers of clubs we support, the brilliant young people we provide opportunities for and the amazing volunteers who make it all possible.

I'm here to manage our fundraising and communications, to find new ways of doing things in this difficult funding climate. Sue and I encourage all our clubs to contact us for help with funding questions - whether you need a bit of new equipment or a major refurbishment - so we can help you find the funds to apply to. I'm also the voice behind our tweets and many of our Facebook updates.

I am inspired by

The Great Outdoors, club volunteers who give up their time to work with other people's children, young people who go for it, all the opportunities out there, Sue Pell's cakes, my two dogs and my husband.

Sue Pell

After seven years co-ordinating the Respect Project I was given the opportunity to take on the Fundraising Role. Knowing what could be achieved through the Project and all the good things that EBGC can offer to young people makes the job easy in theory!  However, it is not always that simple to convince people they should support us financially, but that is the challenge that I am undertaking!  Hopefully with some success – time will tell!

I am inspired by

I am inspired by hearing of the ongoing achievements of the young people who I have met through the Respect Project . Young people have such potential!

I am responsible for organising and administering the core events in the Essex Boys and Girls Clubs County Activity Programme. I work closely with the delivery team to ensure maximum participation and to coordinate the allocation of resources to ensure the efficacy of the activities we provide.

I am inspired by

Paul Collingwood, specifically achieving success primarily through mental fortitude rather than ability or talent. .

Steve Hutson

Hi I'm Steve I work with the Respect Project side of the EBGC during the winter, spending time with groups at High Row, in the Lake District and delivering life skills sessions to the Young People on the projects. My summer is spent based at Stubbers Adventure Centre where I run the off site activity days like Canoeing, Sandstone Exploration and Sailing that your club can come along and try.

I am inspired by

Endurance sports people like Dame Ellen MacArthur.

Keith Cranmer

I am currently running our Respect Project which has been successfully run for a number of years and is aimed at young people in Year 9 who are beginning to disengage from school for various reasons such as difficulties with peer pressue, authority, low self esteem and lack of confidence.

The Project is a 4-month programme divided into outdoor activity days, evening sessions developing life skills, a week-long residential experience of outdoor adventurous activities in the Lake District followed by a celebration Presentation Evening.

The potential outcomes from the project can be life changing for the young people.

I am inspired by

Young people achieving more than they ever thought possible.

I have always been interested in youth work, joining my first club at the age of 8 and have worked my way up through being a volunteer and a club leader to where I am now.
